Proxi.cloud Approached Break-Even After Joining the Blix Ecosystem

As an independent company, Proxi.cloud had to solve data scale, customer acquisition, and retail access on its own. After Grupa Blix acquired 100% of the company in 2024, Proxi.cloud retained operational independence while gaining access to shopping apps, customer relationships, and sales channels. In 2025, revenue rose 24.9% and the net loss fell 92.0%, although public evidence cannot attribute the entire improvement to the acquisition.

Full Story

Background & Opportunity

Proxi.cloud was founded in 2015 and initially offered a software development kit for mobile applications. The SDK collected location and behavioral events through tools such as Wi-Fi scanning and geofencing. As the business developed, these capabilities expanded beyond identifying where a device was located. They were applied to audience targeting, drive-to-store advertising, offline visit monitoring, and advertising-effect attribution. For retailers, fast-moving consumer goods brands, automotive companies, and media agencies, location data offered a way to connect online advertising exposure with offline consumer activity. Campaigns could therefore be evaluated not only through online metrics such as clicks, but also by examining whether targeted audiences visited relevant physical locations. This created a distinct technology asset: anonymous location data that could help customers identify audiences, deliver campaigns, and measure offline outcomes. The market opportunity emerged from the growing overlap among retail media, shopping data, and offline attribution. Proxi.cloud states that its location products use anonymized data obtained through integrations with partner applications. Its retail media products use aggregated, anonymous shopping data supplied by retail partners. The two data types serve different parts of the customer journey. Location data helps explain visits and movement patterns, while shopping data provides insight into consumer activity within retail environments. Proxi.cloud can also supply retailers with retail media infrastructure that connects brand advertisers, retail channels, and technology providers. Revenue sharing is one available partnership structure. This allows the business model to extend beyond an individual technology service into campaign execution, effectiveness analysis, and retail media collaboration. Proxi.cloud does not serve retailers alone. It also provides data-marketing services to fast-moving consumer goods brands, automotive brands, and media agencies. It can charge for audience targeting, drive-to-store campaigns, offline attribution, retail media execution, and analytical reporting. Serving several customer groups broadens the number of potential applications, but it also creates an operational requirement. For location technology to produce recurring commercial value, the company needs dependable data coverage, sufficient advertising demand, access to retail channels, and effective sales capabilities. As an independent technology provider, Proxi.cloud had to build all these conditions itself while bearing the full burden of customer acquisition and commercialization efficiency. The public financial record showed that technology development and revenue expansion did not automatically produce stable profitability. From 2021 to 2022, revenue increased from approximately PLN 2.28 million to PLN 4.59 million, nearly doubling. Over the same period, the net loss narrowed from approximately PLN 640,000 to PLN 178,000. For 2022 specifically, sales revenue was approximately PLN 4.587 million and the net loss was PLN 177,500. These figures suggested that the company could scale while reducing losses. The pattern later weakened. From 2023 to 2024, revenue rose only from PLN 7.799 million to PLN 8.048 million, an increase of about 3.2%, while the net loss widened from PLN 878,000 to PLN 1.711 million. Slower growth and a larger loss occurring together placed the independent expansion model under more direct pressure. Grupa Blix offered resources that complemented these constraints. It had a large shopping-app audience, retail customer relationships, advertising clients, and established industry sales channels. These assets could bring Proxi.cloud’s location technology into a broader range of shopping and retail media use cases. From Blix’s perspective, Proxi.cloud’s geofencing, store-visit monitoring, and offline attribution capabilities could strengthen its shopping-data and advertising operations. From Proxi.cloud’s perspective, joining the ecosystem reduced its dependence on building data scale and market access entirely on its own. The combination was not intended to shut down the existing platform. Instead, the plan was to maintain Proxi.cloud’s operational independence while improving advertising-effect measurement, opening new sales channels, and jointly developing more precise targeting products. The opportunity also carried data-governance obligations. The commercial value of location and shopping data depends on whether its sourcing, anonymization, consent mechanisms, and control arrangements satisfy increasingly demanding regulatory and platform standards. While expanding its data coverage and retail media operations, Proxi.cloud must continue explaining how data supplied by partner applications and retailers is used. The strategic choice was therefore not simply about generating more revenue. It was about turning an independent location-technology capability into data infrastructure embedded in shopping applications, retail relationships, and advertising-execution processes.

Original Problem / Model

Before the acquisition, Proxi.cloud had to address data scale, advertiser acquisition, retail-channel access, and commercialization efficiency independently. Revenue in 2024 grew only about 3.2% from 2023, while the net loss widened from PLN 878,000 to PLN 1.711 million. The figures showed that greater scale had not yet produced stable profitability.

Turning Point

In October 2024, Grupa Blix acquired all 1200 shares in Proxi.cloud, representing 100% ownership. Proxi.cloud remained operationally independent after the transaction, but began gaining access to the acquirer’s shopping applications, customer relationships, and sales channels.

Core Decision

Proxi.cloud chose to accept the strategic acquisition rather than continue relying solely on the growth path of an independent location-technology company. The transaction preserved its existing team and technology platform while placing them inside the wider Blix ecosystem.

Execution / Model / Acquisition Changes

After the acquisition, the companies planned to strengthen advertising-effect measurement, open additional sales channels, and develop more precise targeting products. Proxi.cloud continued supplying data-marketing services to retailers, brands, and agencies. Its retail media partnerships could also use a revenue-sharing model, aligning the technology provider’s returns with the business generated through retail channels.

Measurable Results

In 2025, revenue increased from PLN 8.048 million to PLN 10.050 million, representing year-on-year growth of about 24.9%. The net loss narrowed from PLN 1.711 million to PLN 136,000, a reduction of about 92.0%. However, public disclosures did not report customer additions, synergy revenue, or a breakdown of cost changes.

Lessons

The case shows that data coverage, customer relationships, and sales channels can influence commercialization efficiency as much as the underlying technology. Performance improved after the acquisition, but without segmented financial and operating data, the full change should not be attributed to a single transaction.

Remain operationally independent while opening sales channels and strengthening advertising-effect measurement

Deep Analysis

Accepting the acquisition allowed Proxi.cloud to retain its independent team and technology platform while accessing Grupa Blix’s shopping-app traffic, retail relationships, and sales channels. This addressed important constraints on data coverage and customer acquisition under the previous independent-growth model. The direction is consistent with the 2025 results: revenue increased and the net loss narrowed sharply. However, the available disclosures do not separate synergy revenue, customer additions, or cost changes. The acquisition therefore coincided with a substantial operating improvement, but the evidence does not establish it as the sole cause.

Turning Point

In October 2024, Grupa Blix acquired all 1200 shares in Proxi.cloud, representing 100% ownership. The parties decided that Proxi.cloud would remain operationally independent while collaborating on advertising-effect measurement, sales-channel access, and more precise audience-targeting products.

Analyze4/5

Score 4: Financial trends clearly showed slowing growth and widening losses, but public information did not provide detailed customer-level or cost-structure analysis.

Execute4/5

Score 4: Proxi.cloud retained operational independence after the acquisition and pursued channel, measurement, and product synergies, although specific contracts and synergy revenue remain undisclosed.

Decide5/5

Score 5: Accepting a full acquisition directly addressed data coverage, retail relationships, and sales-channel constraints while preserving the existing team and technology platform.

Create4/5

Score 4: The company extended its location-data capabilities into retail media and shopping-data applications, but the standalone revenue contribution from new products was not disclosed.

A technology company’s growth bottleneck may not be solved by product development alone; access to complementary data, channels, and customer ecosystems can also expand commercialization opportunities.
